a fun little photo shoot

Sunny and 72!  Time for a photo shoot!!

What a great day it was!

Happy Anniversary Mommy and Daddy!

Four years ago today my mommy and daddy got married.  A couple of months later I began to grow in my mommy’s belly and things have never been the same since.

So, I wanted to take the opportunity to say to my mommy-

Thank you for loving me, holding me, singing to me, and putting up with daddy (I know that is much harder than dealing with me!!).

To daddy I wanted to say-

Thank you for being a dork and CRAZY man just like me!  But most of all thank you for loving mommy.

You see, if you two did not love each other like you do…then I would not be here.

And, if I were not here, I would not be able to say…..

I LOVE YOU!!!!

and……

It’s funny, as we get older, how our memories fade when it comes to our childhood years.  I can visually see things I played with when I was 4 and 5 years old.  My 12″ G.I. Joe figure and his giant helicopter, my gas station play set for my matchbox cars, my rubber Mr. Stretch man (I still to this day would love to know what he was filled with as I tried feverishly to bite his arms off!), and my holy grail of toys, my green and yellow John Deer tractor pedal car.  Made of metal, I could even change the spark plugs that protruded from its shiny yellow engine….the Big-wheels of today had nothing on this bad boy!

I can picture moments maybe as far back as then as well.  I remember the cast iron railing that greeted me as I entered our kitchen.  I remember playing with the mirrors in our bathroom to get the impression of their being hundreds of me, an army if you will in reflections.  I remember the cardboard fire-place my father put up every year at Christmas, I always thought the card board fire would burn me for some reason so I would never get with in 5 feet of it. I have this one particular memory of playing in the street with my friends and having to go to the bathroom, it was then that I learned never to run when you have to go #2.

Which leads me to this,  I just found out what the number one song in America was when I was born! (Yep, nothing I said earlier had anything to do with this,  I just like to ramble ;) )

“Honey” by Bobby Goldsboro.  A little cheesy and nothing I would have playing with the windows down but, it could have been worse.

So, with that, I became curious……

“Sailing” by Christopher Cross was the #1 song in America when Meghan, my beautiful wife, was born.  Great song!

“We are the World” by USA for Africa was the #1 song in America when Caitlin, my wonderful sister-in-law, was born.  Again, great song!

Joe, Deb, Dianna, Judy, Dick…your time is coming!  I just need to do a little more research!

Finally, we come to Peyton, my wonderful little boy and reason for this blog’s existence.

The #1 song in America on the day of my son’s birth was…..

“Crack a bottle” by Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 cent.

Yep, my son gets to look back with joy in knowing that, “Cuz when I spit the verse the s**t gets worse than Worcestershire sauce” was an actual verse…in a song…a #1 song…a song people actually made…#1.

Personally, the following singer will always be #1 to me!

It’s Christmas time….in january!!!

Well, I have many a lump of coal in my future for neglecting my blogging duties over this holiday season.  In the past I have devoted time to a New Year’s post that entailed resolutions galore and how future prospects were looking.  I think, by now, everyone knows what is going on and how things are looking.  So, I have one simple resolution this year.  Fill this blog with as much content as possible about the one little person that breathes so much life into us all….PEYTON!!!

So, for know, take a trip with me into the past.  About 4 weeks to be exact!!

Yes..It really was as fun as it looks!!

Two hours later…we got a ladder!!

What an entertainer!!

Putting out food for Santa’s Reindeer!

Yes!  It was a VERY…MERRY…CHRISTMAS!!!!

A sugar serenade

This is what happens when your son eats one too many treats from the gift basket…..thanks Aunt Dianna!

Thanksgiving (20 days later!)

Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my mind the most.- Mark Twain

Please take the afore-mentioned quote to heart when I say, ”I can’t fricken believe I dropped the ball on my Thanksgiving post!!”.  20 days!?!  Are you serious!?!  To put that into perspective…If I were to walk non-stop for 20 days, I would have been in Las Vegas by now!!!  Let’s hope I get the parade pictures up before Peyton graduates High School, haha!

To Deb and Caitlin…we all lived!! Woo-Hoo!! GO turkey!! ;)

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.  ~Thornton Wilder

Happy Thanksgiving!!
